Randwick-Botany Greens support community action day for keeping the Renewable Energy Target (RET) at Coogee Beach tomorrow (11th October 2014)

Greens Councillor Murray Matson will join Matt Thistlethwaite at Coogee to help collect pro RET petition signatures and to door knock while Greens candidate for Maroubra, James Cruz, will do the same at Maroubra Beach.

“Australians love their solar but need to speak up to save the Renewable Energy Target (RET) from climate change deniers Tony Abbott and Dick Warburton.” says Green Councillor Murray Matson.

Date: Tomorrow, Saturday 11th October 2014
Time: 10am-12:30pm
Where: Meet at Goldstein Reserve, Coogee Beach

Lunch will be provided afterwards at Coogee Beach.

The Abbott Government recently commissioned Dick Warburton to conduct a review of Australia’s Renewable Energy Target (RET)

The RET is designed to ensure that 20 per cent of Australia’s electricity comes from renewable sources by 2020.

The Warburton review recommends either closing the RET to new entrants or reducing the target rate of renewable energy. Both options will discourage greater investment in renewable energy in Australia.

Matt Thistlethwaite will present the signed petitions to the Parliament on behalf of our community.
